Pocket Network News - DEC 2020
479 Million relays serviced with 4.79M POKT earned and counting.
Launch Updates:
It’s been a little over 4 and a half months since Pocket Network launched on Mainnet. Since the Mainnet launch, Pocket Network has processed more than 479M relays!
At 0.01 POKT minted per relay served and validated, this translates to ~4.79M POKT minted across the board (89% to service nodes, 1% to block producers, and 10% to DAO) in network revenue.
Over the last four weeks, Ethereum applications using the Pocket Gateway have driven a total of ~136 million requests. In the process, routing over 454 GB of data!
In this timeframe, that means nodes have minted a total of 1,364,816.14 POKT, with 89% going to the service nodes (1,214,686.37 POKT), 10% going to the Pocket DAO (136,481.61 POKT), and 1% going to the block producers (13,648.16 POKT).
At the time of writing this, there are 615 staked nodes in Pocket Network.
That’s an decrease of 9 nodes since last week.

The very natural patterns continue, in that the node counts and relay numbers are correlated. Meaning that the POKT economics is doing its job.
With the primary dependency for adding additional load to the network in its resolution phase(memory-leak issue, see Pocket Core below), we look forward to coming announcements that will quell any of our more fidgety friends concerns.
Developer Updates:
Pocket Dashboard
The beta release for the Pocket Dashboard is still underway and progressing nicely.
You can view the progress towards public release on the Pocket Dashboard repo.
There will be quite a large development effort in 2021 for the Pocket Dashboard to maximize the value for application developers, putting it on par with any other service offering in their respective regards.
Pocket Applications & PocketJS
Not much major news here, the maintenance of the pocket wallet and block explorer are moving at a steady pace, and PocketJS is shaping up quite nice as well.
One interesting feature to Pocket-JS was the addition of a library that allows the developer to use some functionalities from pocket-js as a Command-Line Interface, created mostly for the POKT arcade requirements.
Pocket Core
RC 0.5.2.7 has been released to a testing group and our confidence going into the new year is the highest it’s been in these troubling times.
The most important issue that is closing is a solution to the memory leak issue we were experiencing over the past few releases.
When this hardening phase is complete, the memory-leak solution confirmed and the go-ahead given, pocket ecosystem members will again drop some more relays onto the network. So nodes be ready!
For the mainline source of truth on the Pocket-Core 5.2 improvements/issues and progress, you can always visit Pocket-Cores changelog.
Economic and Governance Updates:
POKT Arcade - 👾A Community Gamification Layer
The POKT arcade is alive and well, we are seeing quite a bit of quest completions and claims made through the system!
There is an open proposal to the Pocket DAO for improving the Governance UX that relates to the POKT arcade, with quite a bit of engagement.
Check out Jack’s proposal for better Governance UX here: https://forum.pokt.network/t/pip-1-upgrade-governance-to-improve-voter-ux/334/24
Once this has been resolved, the Pocket DAO will be able to being onboarding more and more members through a gasless and sybil-resistant interface.
wPOKT - 🌱 Regenerative Yield Farming
The full wPOKT green paper has been proposed through the forum and is collecting valuable feedback. wPOKT is a novel yield farming mechanism for the Pocket community to crowdsource free infra from their favorite DApps and earn from it.

POKT-ROKT - 🚀 Tooling for Pocket Nodes
Also, community member and long time contributor to Pocket-Core, @BenVan has submitted a proposal for reimbursement for the development tool he has launched, and that many use today “POKT-ROKT” - see his proposal here https://forum.pokt.network/t/pokt-rokt-development-reimbursement/391

Integrations:
Web3API is committed to launching with Pocket Network!
Behind the Scenes:
Zero to Node:
The videos are done! Next we will be working on written tutorials and may need to do some video overlays in the event we publish the tutorials on discourse instead of the existing developer portal.
This change to discourse is a move towards decentralization, where discourse and its integrated features will serve as a community hub for guides, proposals, wikis and much more.
Discourse Ramping Up:
As hinted at above, a large effort is underway to migrate most of what we do to working in public, through the use of discord and discourse. Please check the latest format on the forum to get a feel of where we are heading.
Alberto is on Vacation:
Alberto (aka DisruptBanksy) is currently on vacation which is why this newsletter may not have as much meat in it as the last or following ones XD. Be sure to tag him and wish him well as he works very hard on all things Pocket growth and deserves to have some R&R.
